What is final expense insurance?

Small policy. Big relief for your family.

Final expense insurance is typically a small whole life policy designed to help cover end-of-life costs. When you pass away, the benefit is paid to the person you choose, and they can use it however it is needed most.

01
Services

Funeral or cremation

Helps pay for the service, viewing, casket or urn, and the arrangements your family would otherwise cover.

02
Burial

Plot, headstone & burial

Helps with cemetery plots, headstones, grave opening and closing, and other burial expenses.

03
Bills

Medical bills & debts

Loved ones can use the benefit to settle final medical bills, credit cards or other outstanding balances.

04
Legacy

A gift for those you love

Whatever is left can help your family with everyday costs or be left as a small legacy in your name.

The real cost of a goodbye

Funerals cost more than most families expect.

Without coverage in place, these costs usually fall on children or a spouse, often within days and at the hardest possible time.

Why people choose it

Coverage built for simplicity.

Final expense plans are designed to be easy to understand and easy to keep. Exact features depend on the carrier and policy.

Fixed premiums

Your rate is set

With most whole life final expense policies, your premium is locked in when the policy is issued and does not go up as you age.

Lifelong coverage

It does not expire

Unlike term life insurance, whole life coverage stays in force for your lifetime as long as premiums are paid.

Simple approval

Health questions, not needles

Simplified issue plans use a short health questionnaire, and guaranteed issue plans may be available if health is a concern.

How it works

Final expense, answered.

Still have questions? A licensed agent can go through them with you on a free call.

Ask a licensed agent
What is final expense insurance?

It is usually a small whole life insurance policy, sometimes called burial insurance, that pays a cash benefit to your chosen beneficiary to help cover funeral costs, medical bills and other end-of-life expenses.

Do I need a medical exam?

Many final expense plans do not require a medical exam. Simplified issue policies ask a few health questions, while guaranteed issue policies ask none but usually have a waiting period, often two years, before the full benefit is paid for death from natural causes.

How much coverage can I get?

Final expense policies generally offer smaller benefit amounts than traditional life insurance, often in the range of a few thousand dollars up to around $25,000 or more. Available amounts depend on the carrier, your age, your health and your state.

Who is eligible?

Final expense insurance is commonly available to adults between roughly 50 and 85 years old, though age limits vary by carrier. A licensed agent can tell you what is available to you.

Does it cost anything to request a quote?

No. Requesting a quote and speaking with a licensed agent is free, and you are never obligated to buy a policy. Please do not cancel any existing coverage until a new policy has been issued and is in force.

Is WhiteStone Communications an insurance company?

No. WhiteStone Communications does not issue policies or make coverage decisions. We connect you with licensed insurance agents who can provide quotes, and approval is subject to the issuing carrier’s underwriting.
